The objective.
Having being originally constructed in 2002, the Seaview Wastewater Plant was identified as a critical piece of infrastructure, and as part of the local council’s infrastructure strategy, Petone Engineering was engaged by Fulton Hogan to proactively enhance the seismic resilience of the plant.
Our involvement.
Seismic upgrades vary in difficulty, but the requirement for the Wastewater Treatment Plant to stay operational throughout this entire project added significantly to the complexity of the installation. As a result, the methodology of installing the structural steel had to be carefully thought out and carefully managed.
The first stage of the project saw steelwork being installed in the ceiling of the pump room of the plant.
The outcome.
The first phase of this project has been successfully completed while ensuring the wastewater plant remained operational throughout the strengthening work.
