Role purpose

You will be responsible for day-to-day management of our Fabrication workshop and leading our highly skilled and productive workshop team. We offer competitive pay rate, secure employment, overtime according to program needs, ongoing training and a great team environment.

Role Requirements.

Key Accountabilities.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of our Fabrication Workshop which includes our team of highly skilled fabricators and specialist machine operators.

  • Lead our Workshop Team to ensure they meet the established timeframes and measures - Billable hours, Quality and Productivity.

  • Assist the Fabrication Team with interpretation of drawings and specifications.

  • Maintain and facilitate 5S and lean principles in the workshop.

  • Inform our Production Manager of any defects in fabrication.

  • Responsible for best practice Health and Safety in our Workshop which includes and carrying out daily checks and incident reporting.

  • Ensure SFC Compliance in our workshop.

  • Responsible for carrying out Q&A and Visual scans.

  • Work with and lead the fabrication team to implement new ideas to improve existing systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Position Criteria

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Relevant qualification in an Engineering / Fabrication / Welding discipline.

  • Excellent knowledge of medium-heavy structural steel fabrication

  • 3 plus years in a Workshop Supervisor/Management position

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent understanding of NZ Health and Safety standards

  • Skilled and experienced at reading shop drawings.
